Shut Up and Explode [Anime Re-Openings - E.P.C. Round 4][Tie]

Judges Remarks: 5. whispersreloaded vrs. Moonlit Kaitou – You guys have GOT to be kidding me! You both used the same exact concept, let alone some of the same characters, in the same places, with similar recreated backgrounds…and…ugh. Judging was hard to say the least. You both had masking errors, like a lot of EPC members as well. Both were put in near late. In the end, this match can only be declared a tie since both had good points and nearly all the same points in general. Congrats.

Round 4 of EPC was Anime Re-Openings, and we were given five choices of anime openings and required to do our best to recreate them using a different anime. Since essentially all but one OP contained massive amounts of sparkles, I settled for the OP for Bounen no Xamdou, featuring the song Shut Up and Explode by the Boom Boom Satellites.

I apologize for any masking errors or rough edges x.x I was out of the country for the last ten days and raced to finish and get this in on time. I’m barely making the deadline as is. I think at least 75% of the masking in the video was done in the last 8hrs, so don’t judge me too harshly on this one XD

I had quite a hard time with this round XD I was going out of my way to try to pick a song and anime combination that no one else would use (ie. no Shugo). All in all, I think Macross matches pretty well, though there obviously a few parts that didn’t line up, and I took a certain amount of creative license where I felt I couldn’t properly replicate the original opening. This was quite rushed, so it’s far from my best, but I didn’t want to just give up and quit. I will probably take it down if I lose or when the competition ends.

Oh yeah, if anyone is try to read the fake credits, don’t bother XD they’re the japanese titles for a bunch of Macross songs (ie. I was short on time)

[..YouTube..] Gosh i can’t choose who’s i like the most.On yours i really like the part on the chorus, the running part i felt that was weak on kaitou’s but i preferred her opening as your one was kinda weak in comparison. Kaitou also did better with the technical aspect yet i felt you did better with clip choice…gosh its so hard you both did fantastic job, good luck to you both and to the person (people) that have to judge XD;

[..YouTube..] It quite good, but it has problems with the placing of actual scenes. You brought up some pretty good scenes, but they have a bit weak connection. No matter how hard I try I always compare it to the original BnX opening and it has some holes in the middle of the video. The scenes with the static background were quite good(especially the Sheryl-Ranka and the Grace one).5/5If I have to compare it to the other, it has better visuals with less continuity.
